Corporate Social Responsibility

Taking action to make a real difference.

At Unifabs, we focus on more than just manufacturing. As a forward-thinking organisation, we embrace Corporate Social Responsibility, recognising that responsible business practices are essential to our growth. We appreciate the impact delivering our services has on our employees, the community, and the environment, and are committed to continuing to operate in an ethical and sustainable manner.

Sheet metal manufacturing is not an environmentally friendly industry. It involves energy-intensive processes, the use of hazardous chemicals, and produces a lot of waste. In recent years, the industry has improved in terms of developing greener, more energy-efficient fabrication technologies. But, there is still much more that can be done.

At Unifabs, we have taken practical steps to reduce our environmental impact. We have installed solar panels to provide a significant portion of our energy requirements, lowering our carbon footprint. We also minimise the use of single-use plastics during the delivery process, opting for recycled and recyclable cardboard wherever possible. Reusable plastic totes for regular, repeating deliveries further contribute to reducing waste and overall environmental impact.

Another key part of our sustainability efforts is the use of electric forklifts across our sites. Replacing gas-powered forklifts with electric models reduces local emissions, cuts fuel use, and improves operational efficiency. In addition, our company cars are electric, helping to lower CO₂ emissions and support cleaner, greener operations.

At Unifabs, we understand that our success is intertwined with the growth and development of our employees. We are dedicated to providing equal opportunities, training, and advancement within our organisation. Investing in new technologies and providing training opportunities not only enhances our capabilities as a company, but also unlocks opportunities for mutual growth.

Through our academy, we are deeply passionate about inspiring the next generation of manufacturing engineers, nurturing their skills and knowledge to shape the future of our industry. By prioritising the professional development of our team, we cultivate a culture of innovation, expertise, and long-term success.

We aim to benefit the local community through employment opportunities and sponsorship of initiatives, activities and clubs. Examples include supporting children’s football and rugby teams, school projects and providing work experience placements for young people. We are also proud to sponsor Alfonzo Birks, a talented young boxer still at school, who has already achieved multiple national titles and is showing great promise for the future.

In addition, we support our employees with sponsorship of clubs and charitable activities they personally take part in, helping them make a positive difference within the community. These initiatives reflect our commitment to nurturing local talent, inspiring growth, and giving back to the communities that support us.

Our commitment to corporate social responsibility is evident in our corporate partnership with Action Change. Action Change is a prominent non-profit organisation dedicated to empowering communities and making a positive difference in society.

Together, we work towards creating sustainable and meaningful change in underserved communities in Africa by supporting various projects and initiatives. By joining forces with Action Change, we aim to make a genuine impact on the lives of those who need it most. Read more about how donations have been used in the latest partnership update.
