CNC Punching

Unifabs sub contract sheet metal CNC punching

We are equipped with High-Speed CNC Punching Machines suitable for medium to high volume runs of repeating parts with repeating detail. As well as punching to create a flat component, we are also able to offer punch forms including louvres, dimples, embossed logos and features as well as tapping and countersinking in situ.

WHAT IS CNC PUNCHING?

CNC Punching is a computer programmed and controlled method of creating a hole, aperture or ‘cut’ by forcing a punch tool through the chosen material and into a mating ‘die’. The slug or scrap is forced through, leaving the required hole or aperture in the metal.

ADVANTAGES OF CNC PUNCHING METAL

  • With up to 1000 ‘hits’ per minute, punching is a high-speed method of manufacturing metal components
  • As well as producing flat components, we are able to produce 3D forms in the material, such as louvres, dimples, embossed logos and hooks
  • Tapping and countersinking can be produced in situ, eliminating the need for ‘secondary operations’
  • Punching is a non-thermal process so does not produce any Heat Affected Zone (HAZ) in the material

AUTOMATION

Our CNC Punches are paired with automated load/offload cells to further increase efficiency and output.

CNC PUNCHING & LASER CUTTING

Using a combination of punching, fibre laser cutting and combination laser/punch machinery allows us to produce components using the most cost-effective and efficient method of manufacture. All of our machines are coupled with automated sheet load/unload cells, further increasing productivity and output.
