Plastic part storing trolley

Maximising storage of plastic parts in a protective trolley for JLR’s SVO

Plastic part storing trolley

Jaguar Land Rover required a storage solution for its centre of excellence, SVO (Special Vehicle Operations). The manufacturer required a storing trolley to hold plastic exterior car panels. The panels were painted and mostly A-face surfaces, so protection was paramount. Ergonomics and utilisation of space was also of importance.

After meeting with the client to ascertain the problems they were having, our industrial design team collated the client’s 3D CAD data of the parts so that an appropriate and robust solution could be designed.  Unifabs designed a trolley with a mixture of Polyurethane/PVC/foam and microfibre sections to support the parts without damage or marking.

The final solution maximised the footprint of the trolley whilst offering a high level of protection and ease of use. 20 units were initially produced which were a great success. This led to further variations for different models within the JLR group.

Our consultative approach to product design ensures a robust solution is achieved which meets or exceeds expectations, whilst considering manufacturability and cost.
